Robert Thorne (The Blues Bus, Harper, Mick Pealing) and John Stringer (The Blues Bus, Full Measure, Colourblind) first joined forces in Perth in the superlative blues band, The Blues Bus. Led by Thorne, The Blues Bus regularly featured the cream of Perth’s, and Australia’s, blues fraternity. The likes of blues legend Lyndsay Wells, Bob Patient, John Wilson and Ron Parker (Dave Hole), Bob Fortescue (Chain), Matt Taylor, Ivan Zarr and Steve Cole, amongst many others, were all regular or special guests in The Blues Bus. The blues scene is a big family, with members of one band often joining another in a spontaneous moment of transcendence. This familial aspect would often see John stepping on stage with The Waifs for a spine-tingling rendition of Stormy Monday. Or Lyndsay Wells joining Robert and Bob Patient and stripping the paint from the walls. And now Robert and John have stripped it back to the bare essentials. Pure soulful blues expression. Robert Thorne’s fluid guitar and John Stringer’s whisper to growl to roar of a voice will seduce and astound you. |
