Sharmelle is a young singer/songwriter from the western suburbs of Sydney who spent her life growing up on an emotional rollercoaster. A family break up and the usual teenage dramas have all contributed to who this young fresh face is now. 22-year-old Sharmelle hasn’t always been at one with her talents, it wasn’t until she was 17 that it all started to come together. An acoustic guitar under the Christmas tree as a gift from her mother was the start. The gift came as a surprise and had her puzzled as she had no idea how to play but it wasn’t long before she was taught a few chords and it all went from there. Sharmelle’s eagerness to learn turned a simple gift into a life-changing event. She began writing and singing her own songs, taking up singing lessons and continuing to develop her talents on the guitar. The songs written were about what was going on in her life both past and present, covering emotions ranging from happy to sad. Sharmelle now had a way to express her feelings through her talents and the rollercoaster ride began to turn into a merry-go-round. Winning many singing competitions, her own songs began to take shape and develop into something that she really felt a sense of pride when performing. Not long ago Sharmelle was like any other teenager in her bedroom listening, loving and singing along to music, now she’s up there on the stage making music which impresses the crowds wherever she performs. Her influences include such artists as Jewel, Sheryl Crow, Leonardo’s Bride, Diana Ah Naid, Lisa Loeb and many more. One day Sharmelle hopes to have the opportunity to get her songs out to an audience as wide as her influences and perhaps use her talent and life experiences to influence others, but for now she will continue doing what she loves, writing and performing music, the one thing that will remain in her heart forever. |
