Emerging from Wollongong in the early ’90s with Triple J Campus Band Comp NSW champs, The Merry Widows, singer/songwriter David Beniuk has five commercial releases under his belt, including ‘Infotainment Lifestyle Album’ (2000), which earned him four stars in the Sydney Morning Herald, and five in The Australian, who commented that “he levitates into the Paul Kelly, Michael Thomas, Tim Rogers, Neil Finn group of bloody good songwriters”. He’s played Woodford, Port Fairy and the National Folk Festival, opened for Yothu Yindi and Bob Geldof (amongst others), had his songs covered by Us Not Them, Raoul Graf and Paul Greene, and had his song ‘North Shore Girls Get Off’ included by Glenn A. Baker on Sony’s ‘Somewhere in Sydney’ compilation. In 2002 he took his guitar overland from Paris to Saigon and he’s currently recording a new album with Mick Thomas as producer. |
