Jodee Maree is one of those rare artists that draw you in, with her charismatic enthusiasm and interaction with the crowd. The control exhibited in her music is a sign of an exceptionally talented artist, and makes for a passionate performance of alternative pop songs, which come alive with heartfelt lyrics. Teaming up with guitarist/songwriter Joseph Calderazzo they form Akradia and have crafted a soulful, adventurous collection of songs culminating as their 2000 debut CD ‘Social Disorder’. With nothing but vocals and acoustic guitar they evoke colours and textures proving that ‘wall of sound production’ isn't imperative to the creation of good rock music. Sydney music magazine, Drum Media, describes Social Disorder as “a clever little album, subsuming the need for a full compliment of musicians. Playing around Sydney in rooms like the Basement, they have been impressing people with their passion and ballsiness”. In 2002 Joseph and Jodee added Liz Latimer on bass and Lloyd G. on drums, in pre-production for their second full length CD due for release in 2003. Akradia have been seen performing at The Basement, the 1999, 2000 and 2002 Sydney Food and Wine Festivals, the 2000 Fringe Festival, Bar Broadway and Tuesday Nite Club. Many local and international musicians have sung their praises including Roachford, Coldplay and Slayer. “It was not hard to be impressed by their performance.” – Rave Magazine “An exceptional blend of powerful vocals and some guitar mastery.” – Time Off Magazine, Brisbane |
