Rod Davies is a songwriter and performer making a big impact across the entertainment industry this year. His debut album ‘Beautiful Scars’ is a collection of easygoing acoustic rock tunes written with the added edge of a theatrical performer. Not only has Rod made his mark playing his own brand of acoustic pop to audiences around Australia, but he is also impressing crowds in the theatre world as the on-stage musical director in Glynn Nicholas’ new production of ‘Kissing Frogs’. A natural singer and self-taught musician, Rod began playing in piano bars in Perth at 15 years of age. Embarking on a career as a professional singer, he took every opportunity that came along, touring and recording with artists such as Mark Seymour and Tina Arena, working in television and theatre and becoming an established session singer. Rod now combines his multi-faceted musical experience in an album that is both powerful and tender. It’s ‘new acoustic pop rock’ and has been described as “a cross between David Gray, Neil Finn and Coldplay”. “a great debut album” – Oz Music Project “here comes another great Aussie talent” – Skinny’s Music (Brisbane) |
