Melbourne singer/songwriter Nikki Smith formed Delirious Blue in August 2000 originally as a duo. Her lyrics are rooted in her own experiences with surfing and travelling, while the Delirious Blue music has its roots in the dynamic sounds of artists ranging from The Smiths and Aimee Mann to PJ Harvey. Delirious Blue have enjoyed performing regularly at Melbourne venues including Bar Open, Dan O'Connell, Revolver, Rochester Castle, The Lincoln Hotel and The Commercial Hotel. Delirious Blue have also performed two original songs on Melbourne's Live to Air TV Station Channel 31; received airplay on Melbourne radio stations 3PBS, 3RRR and 3CR, and contributed the track 'I Dream a Dream' to the ‘Positive Steps (2001) World Aids Day’ compilation CD. Currently gigging around Melbourne as a trio and 5-piece band, Delirious Blue will be recording an EP in 2003 with the view to perform at festivals in their two favourite countries outside of Australia - Spain and Canada. |
