Rachael started her career at 16 - lead vox and rhythm guitar for a touring coastal band. Had done all the traps around Sydney as a rock singer by her early twenties - featuring in various cover bands, and a long running retro concept show ‘Beehive or Else’. At 23, she began writing in earnest. She briefly played with the Daisy Chains, and was invited to play with Glide as resident rhythm guitarist/vox, but declined to pursue her own project. She sold her studio and everything but the guitar in 1996 and moved to Edinburgh. Returning in 1998, she hooked up with Mo'funk Records and played a few gigs in between managing other acts. Highlights include La Bar for Club Acoustica in 1999; ‘Exposed’ at The Globe, Newtown 1999; and Hopetoun Hotel and Lansdowne, among others, in 2000, with her hastily formed 3-piece. She is back in solo form, ready to impart more of her soulful explorations on self, society, and sexuality. |
