Brisbane born, Gerry began playing with La Mode, a high school band. The band appeared on the 1982 ‘FM 104’ compilation CD. In 1984 Gerry formed Vicious Kites, and released a debut single. In 1986 the band moved to Sydney, released ‘Taking Care of You’, and were Triple J/Beatbox band of the week. In 1989 the band released a mini album ‘Sold’, and Gerry travelled around Europe busking and performing in several solo shows. Gerry returned to Sydney in 1990, and played in joke band Horrorfice. In 1993 he formed Disaster Dora, which received a massive amount of airplay on Triple J the following year with the band’s debut single ‘Felt’. Dora released another EP and an album to follow. Gerry moved back to Brisbane in 2000, but not before making a debut appearance for Club Acoustica. Currently he is concentrating on developing a new solo set as well as writing and playing with The Ne’erdowells, a garage/punk trio and a real blast! |
