Club Acoustica. For almost four years now it has been the safe haven of those in the acoustic music field who had long been battling the competition in louder venues, it has also offered an alternative mode of playing for those normally accustomed to squealing guitars and pounding drums.

Formed by Martin Contempree and Michael Hardwick in August of '98, the Club Acoustica nights have been running successfully at La Bar in Darlinghurst ever since. The focus is definitely on the word 'Club' - the idea being to foster a collective of artists who could further their own careers and confidences in almost a 'family' situation.

1999 saw the formation of the Sydney Acoustic Movement with Joseph Calderazzo, further strengthening the community feel of the collective. In 2000 The Basement showcases began, featuring the 'best of' the weekly La Bar shows. This in turn naturally lead to the formation of their radio show, still in its infancy on 2SER.

Right now Club Acoustica are enjoying countless submissions from local artists wanting to be part of their energy, and have just released their first compilation album 'Club Acoustica: The Basement Showcases Vol 1', live recordings gleaned from their showcase evenings at The Basement.
