The musical landscape of the 21st century is both rich and diverse. There is now, more than ever, truly something for everyone. However with the dictionary of musical genres becoming ever chunkier, and our desire for more futuristic sounds ever increasing, we often miss out on some of the most pure and unadulterated live music that still flourishes and grows within the changing environment. Fear not lovers of the unblemished. Acoustic music is in safe hands. The merry folk down at Club Acoustica in Sydney have been supporting and promoting the best in acoustic music for over three years. With weekly visits to the La Bar on Oxford Street and monthly showcases at The Basement, the time has come to take the next logical step in muscial evolution. Wednesday, March 20th at The Basement in Sydney, sees the launch of the highly anticipated 'Club Acoustica: The Basement Showcases Vol 1'. The record draws from genres as diverse as folk, pop, country, world, rock, blues and jazz, with the common theme being excellence of songwriting and performance as well as the lack of amplification. Featured on the album are all local and original artists such as Stella One Eleven, Brett Hunt, Gershon, Miss Radio, Shimmer, Jeff Duff, Dominique Fraissard, Luke O'Shea & Medicine Wheel and Blue Crew. The Club Acoustica shows have been causing quite a stir around the traps of late. Domenica Acitelli of the Revolver street press had this to say of her experience "My ears have an incurable addiction; they've heard the seductive sounds and hisses from the Club Acoustica surrounds and have become mollified and sensitised, making me an everlasting supporter. What can I say - a moving and spine-chilling adventure into the vault of heaven." Mark Neilson of Drum Media believes " It can be argued that Club Acoustica is responsible for the 'Renaissance' of acoustic music". Some praise indeed! So if you are feeling a little overcome by the sounds of 2002, take heart. Club Acoustica has the perfect cure for your condition. A night of soothing, rich and challenging acoustic music at The Basement. Here are the details of the show: Club Acoustica: The Basement Showcases Vol 1 CD Launch, The Basement, Reiby Place, Circular Quay. From 8pm, Wednesday 20th March. Show - $15, CD plus 1 Ticket - $40 inc gst, CD plus 2 Tickets - $50 inc gst For more info, check out www.clubacoustica.com.au. Cleanse your soul and revitalise your musical senses.
