19-08-2002 Club Acoustica

The 'Sirens' set off sirens in the audience last Thursday and the night was an absolute hit. Itu opened the night and what a woman. Just her and a guitar gave one of the moving performances I've ever seen. Honesty and simplicity at its finest, encapsulating the essence of Club Acoustica, putting her on par with the likes of Tracey Chapman. She was followed by Mardi, whose distinct sound brought flashes of Tori Amos and Kate Bush to mind. Lots of colour and movement within her songs kept the crowd intrigued. What came next was Strange Coloured Days, now, being that I front the band I'm going to give you the onstage wrap. Joined by my 4 year old son and second family (band) I was dying with a flu but with the help of my fellow band members and a very understanding audience, I managed to push through the set laughing. We received great feedback so all in all it wasn't too bad and thanks to the guys in the band for being fantastic back-up. We were followed by Amanda Easton phew!! talk about on fire. She was steaming up the stage with her bluesy rock goddess vibe, flaming red hair and sultry stage presence. A hard act to follow but surprise surprise along came Claire Wyndham who blew everyone to the ground with the voice of an angel. Wow!! that girl has got a voice that leaves you craving for more. A sound you can really lose yourself in. She effortlessly kept the venue crowded till the very end. Now that's holding an audience.

Honestly, I can't believe the sort of artistry coming through our doors, for those of you that haven't come to a show for a while do yourself a favour, leave reality at the door and come and enjoy, up close and personal, some of the best acoustic original music gracing Sydney.

Next week's show will include Bates Motel and Athron to name a few.

So...

Come visit the dreamweavers
And see before your eyes
Tomorrow's children play their songs
Inspire and surprise

Viva Acoustica!
