You know that something special is going on when you read that at least four major labels are bidding for the signature on the dotted line of a new young talent. That young talent happens to be singer/songwriter Jay Smith, discovered, as it happens, by the boys of INXS, who have taken her under their management wing. Sydneysiders first got a taste of her talents when she opened for Ally McBeal star Vonda Shepard and more recently Hall & Oates. She’s been collaborating with Jenny Morris in a songwriting capacity, but she’s stepping out again on Wednesday 13 as part of the 'Magic Dozen' celebration of showcases presented by Club Acoustica at The Basement. Also on the bill are Lior, Paul Greene, Jeff Duff with 'Mighty' Joe Calderazzo and Matt Tonks.
