29-07-2002 Club Acoustica

With bodies wall to wall, La Bar was buzzing with anticipation last week. We had one of the best line-ups Club Acoustica has seen and the crowd soaked up the atmosphere like the desert does the rain. Treetops took a trip up from Melbourne to open the show warming the audience with their indie Melbourne vibe. They were followed by Karl Broadie who graced the stage with his cruisie style and presence - now he is someone well worth chasing up to see. Luke O'Shea & Medicine Wheel never cease to amaze me with their performances. They're one of the tightest and together acts I've ever seen and to top it off they look great too!! By this stage La Bar was so full I had trouble getting to the bar and when Brett Hunt got on stage well you could forget about going anywhere. Now Brett is someone who's going places. His music is reflective of who he is and what he sees and as usual he delivered the goods with the passion that is going to take him all over the world. The night was capped with one of my personal favourites Moffat. Despite the lateness of the evening the crowd was still vibed and Moffat, of course, showed us all exactly why we were there. I saw faces captivated, who were taken elsewhere, with the music that was pouring out of him. It ended yet another evening of fantastic acoustica. On a personal note, the music being exposed through CA is continually blowing me away and I for one am glad to be a part of it all. Thanks to all the acts and punters who help make Club Acoustica, in my opinion, one of the finest showcases around.

Viva Acoustica!
